My Top Books for Dietitian Side Hustlers

My Top Books for Dietitian Side Hustlers

I love books. Especially professional and personal develop books that leave me inspired, motivated, and ready to take action.

As dietitians, school taught us to be just that- dietitians. It didn’t teach us how to be entrepreneurs, business owners, or big dreamers. This just means that our education needs to continue outside of the classroom.

I am a firm believer that your mindset is the # factor in determining your success. Books, can help you achieve your dreams and goals.

How Do You Like to Consume Books?

These days, you can purchase most books in three ways:

  • Traditional hard copy (real books!)
  • Electronic copy (e-book)
  • Audio copy (audiobook)

There are benefits to each and we all learn in different ways.

Real Books

I will never get tired of real books. I like to underline inspiring quotes. Put in sticky notes for page holders. And go back to it time and time again.

I have a routine of reading 10 pages of a real book every single day. And it’s been a game changer for me!

Electronic Books

E-books make life easier. You can access any e-book on your personal device. And you can bring a whole library with you anywhere you go.

If I’m honest, I’m not an e-book person. But I know tons of people who can’t get enough of their e-books.

Audiobooks

I am a recent audiobook addict. I just discovered e-books in June 2021. And I love podcasts so audiobooks were a perfect fit for me.

I listen to audiobooks when I work out, cook, do laundry, or drive. I absolutely love them. My Audible account (how I listen to audiobooks) was one of my favorite purchases of 2021.

Combination

Here’s my secret. What I do. I have been listening to audiobooks. Then when I find a one I really love, I buy a hard copy. Then I read it again. And I am able to highlight and make notes in the margins. Stuff I couldn’t do when listening.

What is your favorite way to consume the information in books?

  1. Yes to audiobooks! I’ve listened to and recommended The Compound Effect. Got through half of Mindset, need to finish. I like your idea of buying a great book that I’ve listened to. I listen while walking, cleaning the house or working in the yard/garden.
